Episode 1: Scene 14

SCENE 14

EXT - UTOPIAN: ACADEMIC SPHERE: REGIAN LIBRARY

The camera follows Nezwen and Taryn as they come to the threshold of the entrance to the Regian Library. Two magnificent winged angels exude an aura of reverence and quiet servitude as they stand motionless with their heads bowed and wings gracefully tucked in while holding open each side of the grand double doors. The light fades, revealing the grandeur within.

INT - UTOPIAN: ACADEMIC SPHERE: REGIAN LIBRARY

The library’s two-story interior comes into clear view, a masterpiece of cream and gray smooth, glossy marble adorned with delicate golden veins that shimmer in the ever-present light. Marble pillars rise majestically toward the high ceiling, their ends embellished with modest gold molding.

Floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass roof flood the space with the Supreme’s living light, creating a warm and ethereal ambiance. Luminous shelves, constructed of crystalline glass, run down the built in bookcases, holding an array of archaic books and scrolls; with some sections stretching in length and others tucked into cozy concaves, their soft glows add to the sense of timelessness. The presence of the Supreme feels tangible, imbuing the space with a quiet, energizing peace.

Taryn walks in with calm familiarity, her steps steady on the reflective marble floors. She glances at the towering shelves and the intricate architecture with a disposition of someone who has been here many times, though her gaze still holds a faint reverence for the space.

Regent High Director Nezwen: (quietly, with a tone of respect)

"This library has instilled so many memories for us both."

Taryn offers a small smile but doesn’t respond. It’s clear she has heard similar words before.

The camera pans across the library, letting the viewer’s absorb the grand design and vast collection of knowledge, as if seeing it for the first time through the eyes of the characters.

Nezwen leads Taryn through the library’s serene foyer, the sound of their steps echoing softly on the marble floors. They pass a small study room with a few Aviders aligned on tables. They approach a simple door at the rear of the library.

Nezwen withdraws his access card from an inner pocket and aligns it with a matching cutout on the wall next to the door. The security system unlocks the door, whereby the sound of a click is heard. Nezwen pulls open the door and gestures for Taryn to enter ahead of him.

Regent High Director Nezwen (gesturing toward the open doorway):

“This is where the archives are uploaded.”

INT - UTOPIAN: ACADEMIC SPHERE: REGIAN LIBRARY: BACK ROOM

The camera follows them inside, revealing a mechanical yet harmonious space. A visor like window wraps one hundred and eighty degrees of the second story cone shaped room, letting in an abundance of light with the glass dome roof. The light reflects off the built in glass shelving that incrementally spans the length of the first story concave wall. Each unit of five shelves is separated by a decorative pillar of the same likeness to the library's foyer pillars and has one foot of space in between each shelf. Each shelf emits a warm under glow and holds several storage bins full of unseen historical items and information. Curved trapezoidal shaped marble counters line the two opposing straight walls. Situated on the counter to the left of the door is an Avider. The centerpiece of the room is the foremost captivating. The sound of the BeamDex machine hums in a wave-like pattern and a faintly pulsating white glow nearly mimics the fading tones. The carousel shaped glass container displays numerous quarter inch thick glass slides that encapsulate the Supremes light and archaic data in a single beam that spans the length of its center. A separate compartment holds empty slides ready to be selected and filled. Dorien stands at the console, her hands gracefully navigating the interface with unwavering focus.

Regent High Director Nezwen (with a note of respect):

“Curator Dorien.”

Dorien turns, her expression lights up as she sees Nezwen and Taryn.

Regent Curator Dorien (enthused):

“Ah, Nezwen!”

Nezwen and Dorien exchange a mutual formal salute; complete with a head nod.

Regent Curator Dorien (with a graceful and classy demeanor and visage):

“Greetings Taryn!”

Taryn formally salutes, complete with a head nod. Dorien salutes back without the head nod, displaying the hierarchy between the two.

Taryn (slightly distracted with being awestruck by the BeamDex):

“Thank you. It’s a privilege to be here.”

Regent Curator Dorien (With visibly smiling eyes):

“How lovely to have a special guest!”

Nezwen leans on the see-through surface of BeamDex.

Regent High Director Nezwen:

“Yes. I thought it fitting that Taryn get a closer look at the archives.”

Regent Curator Dorien (exceedingly delighted):

“How wonderful!”

Regent High Director Nezwen (tapping on the BeamDex surface):“The BeamDex is an extraordinary tool. It translates ancient archives into data beams and prepares them for use in the Avider. Dorien has been tirelessly uploading some of the oldest records into its database.”

The camera shifts to Taryn’s perspective as she watches Dorien return to her work. A miniature claw pulls a blank glass slide and carries it to the scan retrieval, loading it into position. The scanner is activated and a ray of light emits through the sides of the scanner as it resonates a digital sound. The same claw unloads the slide with the faintly luminescent beam of data and carries the slide to the center of the BeamDex where the Supreme light beam is added. The data beam, now glowing brighter, is sealed within the glass. The claw then carries the slide to another section where the label is etched into it. The claw then stores it in its categorized location.

Taryn (quietly, almost to herself):

“It’s like the archives are alive.”

Regent High Director Nezwen (smiling, looking into the BeamDex, then at Dorien):

“In many ways, they are. Dorien, how is the progress?”

Regent Curator Dorien (continuing to work but responding, then looking at Nezwen with a smile as she finishes her response):“Remarkably well. The archives are immense, but the BeamDex is efficient. Still, with the level of detail and cross-referencing, it could take a couple of weeks to finish this project.”

Regent High Director Nezwen (looking at Dorien):

“May your diligence result in fruit that is pleasing to the Supreme”

Regent Curator Dorien (raising her open palms above her head in an offering gesture):

“Let it be so!”

The camera lingers for a moment on their beaming smiles. Nezwen then glances at Taryn, noting her fascination with the process.

Regent High Director Nezwen (to both Dorien and Taryn):

“Let’s see what’s already available on the Avider.”

Dorien gestures with her arm and hand, for them to lead the way. Nezwen approaches the Avider on the counter. He pulls out his access card and inserts it into the matching cutout on the base of the PKD unit. The base and panel light up, revealing Nezwen’s personalized interface. Nezwen navigates to the indexed archives.

Regent High Director Nezwen (narrating for Taryn):“This is where the uploaded archives are accessed.”

With Nezwen’s top clearance, he then accesses the classified archives where he opens the Lumenry Archives. Navigating the sub folders, he finally opens the ChaiLux Archives.

Regent High Director Nezwen (stepping aside):

“Taryn, take a look.”

Taryn moves to the terminal with clear curiosity. Her fingers hover over the base before she selects a file. The panel displays a detailed image of the ChaiLux Discoid.

The camera lingers on Taryn’s reaction as her eyes widen and jaw lowers.

Taryn (in a soft spoken awe with wonder and confusion):“It looks almost exactly like my sketch.”

Taryn reaches out, as if to touch the image.

Taryn (quietly to herself):

“How am I sketching something that already exists?”

Nezwen watches her quietly with a knowing expression on his face.

Regent High Director Nezwen (softly):

“You will understand soon enough.”

The camera pans out, capturing the trio in the luminous backroom of the library, with Taryn transfixed on the image. The light that fills the room softly changes. It is now evening.

Regent Curator Dorien (gently touching Taryn’s left shoulder):“It's time for the evening assembly of exaltation.”

Nezwen lifts his access card, and the Avider automatically returns the beam back to the data beam slide in the BeamDex.

Regent High Director Nezwen (with reverent joy):

“Yes. Glory to his name!”

As all three begin to walk away, Taryn maintains an inquisitive expression while Dorien and Nezwen beam with smiles. Within two steps, both Dorien and Nezwen begin positioning simultaneously, in the manner they always do.

(A gentle luminescent ripple, the length of their body, pulses outward, cascading across their white and gold regalia. The edges of their figures dissolve; unraveling into streams of glowing, vapor-like threads. The golden hues linger a moment longer, trailing behind as glowing strands of light fold inward toward a single point, as though their presence is being gently drawn out of the physical realm.)

As they begin phositioning, music fades in. Taryn, unfazed by the common occurrence, continues in deep thought as she starts to leave.
